SALARY RANGE $26,757.00 – $35,305.00 Annually
SUMMARY: The purpose of the position is to assist with the maintenance of athletic fields both natural & synthetic, surroundings landscape and facility amenities within parks.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Mowing (reel/rotary), trim/edge, weed management, and debris removal. Enhance the overall appearance and experience for park patrons utilizing town facilities.Turf related task will include grooming of natural & synthetic fields, infield grooming & game preparations, irrigation, fertility, aeration and reel mowing.Assist with projects that involve minor turf renovations consisting of sod, sprigs, seed (if applicable) and grow-in of specific turf types. Growth blankets to protect turf as needed.Areas of responsibility involve special event support, storm clean up, and snow removal.Safely operates essential turf equipment based on application, routinely performs P/M, and submits fleet request as required.Setup, monitor, adjust, and make minor repairs to irrigation systemsOperates equipment and performs maintenance on equipment; operates equipment according to the operator’s manual; checks fluids; greases moving parts; checks pressure; sharpens blades; and cleans equipment  Operate/drive town vehicles to include but not limited to town trucks, town utility vehicles, town tractors, town mowers, etc. Performs other job related tasks as required. Physical Demand The work is typically performed while sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee frequently lifts light and heavy objects, climbs ladders, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, lift 50 lbs and distinguish between shades of color.
Work Environment Work is typically performed outdoors.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: An equivalent combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the job. Preference with turf/athletic field experience.  
Knowledge of: Current landscaping practices and proceduresTrends and practices of grounds maintenance techniquesRelevant town ordinances, policies, and proceduresManagement and supervisory principles and practicesMethods of proper use and maintenance of landscape equipmentDepartment rules, regulations, policies, and procedures related to personnel processesSafe application of pesticides and fertilizer or able to obtain pesticide license within 6 months. Education   A high school diploma or its equivalent
Experience Two years of working experience with commercial/residential landscape &/or athletic field maintenance. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: This classification has been designated as Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
